Testing Theories of Crime with MicroCase

These are some MicroCase exercises designed for my Theories of Crime & Delinquency (SOC 313) course. Exercise #1 contains detailed instructions for using MicroCase to run frequencies and make crosstabulation tables. It also contains actual tables run by MicroCase so you can compare your tables to the exercise to make sure you are on the right track. Exercise #7 provides a good deal of information on adding control variables.

#1: An exploration of the fear of crime

Below are some older MicroCase assignments, left here for others to browse. I have updated versions that incorporate essay components, available via email:
#2: An exploration of self-reported delinquency (an older assignment)
#3: A look at social disorganization theory
#4: An exploration of differential association theory
#5: An exploration of control theory
#6: An exploration of culture conflict and Marxist theories
#7: A look at bio-psychological theory of choice
#8:  A brief look at routine activities theory
#9: An exploration of low self-control theory
